In this class students will work one on one with me to strengthen any math skills for grades 2-5 that they need help in. You can request that we work on any math skill that you feel your learner needs more practice in and I can provide you with a pre-prepared lesson around this topic or students can bring any of their assignments to class that they need help with. 

My approach to teaching math is strategy based and I also structure each class using a model call gradual release. The gradual release method provides students with very high support with a skill in the beginning of the lesson and moves students toward more independence in the end of the lesson. This method lowers students' stress levels and increases their confidence in their ability to tackle difficult problems independently. 

I am a certified teacher and I have been teaching full time in public schools for the past 5 years. Although I like teaching all subjects, I've found that math is my absolute favorite subject to teach. One of my favorite things about teaching math is I love watching students grow rapidly in certain skills as I teach them new strategies to use. I also love seeing students gain tremendous confidence in their math skills as we work together. My goal is to always make learning math feel fun and I always strive to make the classroom feel like a comfortable and inviting space for learning.
