This class is an informative and super engaging course focused on ensuring each student meets their full potential. There is no need to have any previous martial arts experience, as I am here to guide you every step of the way! I am a second-degree black belt and an Ontario-certified teacher. Thus, it's safe to say that my love for teaching, which started when I was 15 years old in the dojo, also led me to the classroom. I combine my educational knowledge from the karate dojo, soccer field (yes, I was a soccer coach, as well!), university, and the classroom, in order to bring every student the most wholesome learning experience. My classes will keep you on your feet, literally! It is an incredibly exciting time. I have a great deal of experience in tutoring and teaching, and look forward to bringing every student a very individualized, authentic, and engaging learning experience! See you in the dojo!

Hello everyone! My name is Helena! :)
First of all, a huge thank you to ALL of my amazing learners and families. You are all incredible, and I am so grateful for your kindness, enthusiasm and love for learning. It has been a true pleasure learning and working with you all. Virtual hugs!
I am a certified elementary and high school teacher whom absolutely loves teaching! I have an Honour's Specialization in History, French Language and Literature, and a degree in Education. I have extensively studied language acquisition and metacognition, and feel very privileged to bring this knowledge to each of my classes. My heart is learning and teaching! I have had the privilege to teach all grade levels, and have taught in both Canada and London, United Kingdom. Not only do I teach in the classroom (virtual, nowadays!) but I also teach in the dojo. Karate has been a humongous part of my life for 21 years, and it brings me so much joy to share my love for martial arts with learners from around the world!
I am fluent in English, French and Greek! From a young age, I have absolutely adored studying languages. I really excelled in environments, which were authentic in nature and allowed for me to learn in a way that was hands-on and fun. As a result, I always ensure that my classes are super engaging and an experience that will aid in confidence building!
I believe that education and learning must go far beyond the four walls of the classroom. It is a time in which all students should have the opportunity to recognize just how incredible they are in an exciting, and nurturing environment. In doing so, I hope to help students become leaders and grow their interpersonal and intrapersonal skills! As Plato said, there is a genius within every single one of us, and I am absolutely dedicated to helping others reach their full potential!
In my personal time, I love to read, write, travel, garden, listen to music (and have a dance party at the same time) and spend time with my dear family!
