About this class: Félicitations ! Congratulations! It is commendable that you have chosen to continue your study of French at the advanced level. The purpose of this class is to prepare you to excel in the continuation of your French studies. This ongoing and comprehensive course is designed to test your language skills with rigor similar to what is expected in a second year college class, and equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the AP® French Language and Culture exam. Immersion Experience: Students are encouraged to communicate exclusively in French during sessions, providing them with an immersive language learning experience. This immersion approach helps students develop confidence and fluency in real-life communication situations. Grammar: Since scoring will assess general grammar control, syntax, accuracy, and variety, we will review the most important grammar rules, their applications, and their complexities together. Cultural Enrichment: In addition to language skills, students also learn about important cultural aspects of France and other Francophone countries. This cultural enrichment enhances their understanding of the language and broadens their perspective. Diverse Activities: To prepare students for the exam, they will participate in a range of activities, including reading comprehension (questions and answers), crafting effective argumentative essays, using sources accurately, mastering formal language, and understanding email writing etiquette. Additionally, they will engage in cultural comparisons and dialogues. These varied activities address different learning styles and strengthen language skills across diverse contexts. My background as a native French speaker and professional linguist is a significant asset in my tutoring approach, particularly when it comes to clarifying complex grammar concepts and language structures. Supplemental Resources: Students receive supplemental tools, materials, and resources for additional practice, review, and reference. These resources support their learning outside of tutoring sessions and provide additional reinforcement. Accessibility: Beyond scheduled tutoring sessions, students have access to office hours for additional support with homework, projects, essays, or any questions they may have. This accessibility ensures ongoing assistance and guidance for students throughout their learning journey. High Success Rates: Past and current students have experienced high success rates and improved grades in French after participating in my classes. This track record speaks to the effectiveness of my teaching methods and the impact on students' language proficiency. Note for Parents: This class is ongoing, but students can choose to stop when they feel they have gained sufficient knowledge and skills. Class will meet once a week and assignments will be provided to students. They will receive complete feedback with the opportunity to complete revisions and resubmit their assignments. The rate per hour includes class, assignments, corrections, and additional resources. Class will meet once a week, and the topics covered include but are not limited to: 1.
