⭐ Welcome to your new favorite Pre-K class. This class is designed to prepare your child for kindergarten with a fun, interactive, and structured learning environment! This class meets four times a week, Monday through Thursday, for 35 minutes each session, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging experience. ⭐ Your child will learn essential skills such as ABCs, phonics, math, colors, shapes, and social skills. Each week features a new letter, number, and thematic topic to keep learning fresh and exciting: 🔴 Mondays: We will have an introduction of a new letter, number, shape, etc. Monday's are focused on practicing our letter of the week, practicing sounds and reading words that start with that letter and interactive activities. 🔴 Tuesdays: We will focus on math concepts and number recognition, including numbers or shapes that are introduced on Mondays. We will practice counting, shapes, tracing, simple math concepts, and more. 🔴 Wednesdays: We will continue to focus on the patterns of what we're learning and dive deeper to explore math and language arts via activities like songs, reading, games, and other interactive activities. 🔴 Thursdays: We will focus on our future weekend projects, show-and-tell, and activities to solidify the week's learning and theme. 💡 Each class begins with welcomes and greetings, discussing the day, our class calendar, meeting social/emotional needs, and then that is followed by the main lesson. While we will not have class on Fridays, a homework packet will be provided to reinforce the week's learning at home at your convenience. 💡 ⏰ Students will have multiple opportunities to interact with the teacher and classmates through discussions, show-and-tell, and interactive brain breaks. We encourage participation and personal expression, fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment. 📅 More formal assessments will be conducted monthly to monitor progress and ensure retention of information. These will be completed in class and parents can also ask for home work to access as well. ⭐️⭐️ You can join this class any week! We will highlight one number and one letters per week in this class, and review past/future letters, sounds, and math skills each week! Your learner can stay enrolled in this class all year long, and content builds over time. ⭐️⭐️ 📅 Holiday's/Time Off 📅 To give all of us some much needed breaks during the year, we will not have class on the following weeks: 🖍️ Week of 11/25: Thanksgiving Break 🖍️ Weeks of 12/23 - 12/30: Winter Break (we will resume lessons starting the week of 1/6/25) 🖍️ Week of 3/24: Spring Break 🖍️ We also observe the following holidays: 9/2/24 (Labor Day), 11/11/24 (Veterans Day), 1/20/25 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day), 2/17/25 (President's Day), 5/26/25 (Memorial Day), 6/19/25 (Juneteenth), 7/4/25 (Independence Day) Keep in mind that when the holidays fall M-Th, you will not have to pay for those days. We celebrate diversity and honor all family structures, ensuring that our lessons and stories reflect the rich tapestry of our communities. The curriculum emphasizes universal values and social-emotional learning, fostering empathy and understanding among young learners. We will prioritize a secular approach in all lessons, focusing on academic and developmental milestones. For example, we do celebrate student birthdays! Books and lessons are thoughtfully curated to be inclusive of various backgrounds and beliefs, with a commitment to respecting every child's unique identity. Religious themes are only explored in historical contexts, ensuring a balanced and respectful learning experience for all. This class is made to be a welcoming space where every child feels valued, supported, and empowered to learn and grow together. Together, we will build a foundation of respect, curiosity, and kindness that prepares children for a diverse and interconnected world. I love incorporating songs, show-and-tell, and physical activities into our lessons to help each learner get their wiggles out! Social interaction is key in my classes. Throughout our class, we will cover all preschool (Pre-K) standards. With my background in Special Education, I'm dedicated to meeting each student's unique needs as well. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have! I'm incredibly excited to have your learner in class! 😊 ------------- preschool, pre-k, ABC, letter, sounds, math, addition, subtraction, sorting, alphabet, circle time, social, emotional regulation, full curriculum

Orientación para padres
Our class focuses on engaging and educational activities tailored for preschool (Pre-K) learners. While certain themes such as Halloween are designed to be fun and enriching, we prioritize safety and sensitivity in our approach.
Potential Upsetting or Scary Content: We explore some themes like costumes, spooky stories, fairytales, and more that some children may find unsettling. Alternative activities are provided to ensure all children feel comfortable and engaged. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you notice a lesson during the week that you feel will make your child uncomfortable or upset, and we can have another option for them.
Media Content and Tools: If we use any media content or third-party tools, they are carefully selected to be age-appropriate and aligned with educational goals and are approved by Outschool. Families are informed about how these tools will be used and whether an account is required.
My goal is to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every child feels safe, respected, and excited to learn. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns regarding class content or safety practices.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
My name is Teacher Kim (or Mrs. Kim!) and I am super excited to be spread my love for learning, language arts, and math with young minds. While I had a traditional career as an operations manager and consultant, my career changed when my own daughter was diagnosed with autism and ADHD. While she is considered high-functioning, I noticed how she would struggle in a traditional class setting that didn't allow her to get her wiggles out, explore themes she found interesting, and let her challenge herself and pace herself as needed. This led me to pursue my own teaching journey. We now homeschool, and I am 6 months away from graduating with my second degree, this time in K-12 education with an emphasis in Special Education.
To me, every child deserves a chance to be inspired, engaged, and have FUN! While much of my work in teaching has been towards high school students, I have a soft spot for ages 3-7 as well. These young minds require just as much stimulation as those making their way into adulthood, and they also need help regulating their emotions, meeting their social needs, and so much more. I believe in equipping young learners with a diverse array of knowledge to prepare them not only for kindergarten but to foster continuous learning and growth.
In this class, I hope to emphasize the importance of early education in laying a solid foundation for future academic success. Pre-K is a pivotal time when children begin to explore and understand the world around them. By introducing them to a variety of subjects and skills—from literacy and numeracy to social-emotional development and creative expression—we can empower them to build confidence, curiosity, and critical thinking skills.
I am committed to creating inclusive and engaging learning environments where every child can flourish. By nurturing their natural curiosity and providing age-appropriate challenges, I aim to instill a love for learning that will accompany them throughout their educational journey.
