Preálgebra: ¡Todo sobre ecuaciones!

Solving equations is one of the foundational skills of Pre-Algebra. We will begin with the basics of introducing vocabulary and inverse operations. Students will also learn how to solve one step equations. Each week we will add on another step! Each class will include discussions, notes and practice problems as well as review games. Although the class is meant to be interactive, students that struggle with speaking up in a group do not need to participate in the large group discussions. As a Special Education Teacher, I strive to accommodate all learners! Please send me a note ahead of time so I can accommodate your child's learning style.

Week 1: One Step Equations and Inverse Operations
Week 2: Two Step Equations and the Distributive Property
Week 3: Combining Like Terms


Class Structure:
-Introduction to topic/review of homework.
-Fill in notes with examples
-Guided Practice
-Independent Practice (with teacher assistance)
-Quick review game

Students are permitted (and expected) to use a calculator to assist them. We will be working with fractions and decimals so using a calculator will be much more efficient! Students should also be familiar with working with positive and negative numbers, although a calculator will also help them with this.
