Have you considered adding ducks or geese to your farm or homestead? This course covers the basics of keeping waterfowl. We'll talk about the good, the bad, the feathered, and... well ... the foul about raising birds who love the water. Although this course meets twice in person, there are also two supplemental videos to watch on your own time. The live classes are informational, presented with photo slides and plenty of time for questions and answers. Between live classes, learners will watch two videos showcasing my real-life farm, wherein learners will meet some ducks and geese, as well as watch behaviors and see how the birds live and play in a free-range environment. The first half centers around ducks, and the second half focuses on geese. The class is structured as follows: Session One: An introduction to ducks (live class) Homework: Watch the duck video independently (15:43) Homework: Watch the goose video independently (18:04) Session Two: An introduction to geese (live class) Topics covered in this class include: - Incubation and hatching - Brooding - Raising ducklings and goslings - Introducing birds to the flock - Bird terminology - Determining sex - Mating behavior - Diet and health - Predators This course is also offered in FLEX format: https://outschool.com/classes/duck-duck-goose-an-intro-to-waterfowl-Wc1peMgo ***Please note that this class has two videos to watch between class one and class two. The videos are available via Google Drive, and the learner will watch independently.***

Orientación para padres
This course talks about predation as a part of keeping waterfowl. Some learners may be sensitive to the reality that some animals will kill and eat other animals. I do have one photo that shows the size comparison of a goose and a bobcat. Both are deceased and laid out side-by-side, but not gory.
Lista de útiles escolares

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
In addition to several years as a veterinary assistant, I have been homesteading for more than 20 years, raising waterfowl for at least half of that time. We also keep diary goats, rabbits, chickens, turkeys, dogs, cats, and a peahen. It is very rarely quiet in our busy little patch of wooded coastal foothills. :)
