In this on-going 1-on-1 class we will focus each week on a different set of multiplication facts. We will play a Pokemon themed memory game to help solidify our multiplication facts and we will play as many memory games as time permits. At the end of class, we will create a Sunflora (Pokemon sunflower) multiplication flower. We will color our flower and fill it out together, practicing all of the multiplication facts learned that day. After each class, and based on the student's level of proficiency we will either go over those facts again in the next class or move on to our next number set. The schedule will move according to the progress of the student, so the schedule is a basic outline and is dependent on the learner. Hi! I love to teach classes that are fun and promote discussion and creativity. In all of my classes I mix critical thinking with out of the box thinking so that the kids learn something brand new! I find the best way to do this is by using books, video games, trivia and other interactive components to keep them engaged and wanting to learn.
My passion for critical thought stems from my degree in Philosophy. The integration of pop culture in my classes is rooted in a lifetime of toy collecting, video game playing, and during my time as a staff writer for an online comic book review site. Over the past five years I have created community-based, pop-up craft classes for parents and children that integrate culture and thought, and I am excited about the opportunity to share these types of activities with my students!
Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with my husband, son, two cats and puppy! I love online gaming and spending a lot of time crafting.
