I will listen to student and have brief discussions to assess student growth.Experiencia de clase
Students will need to own a guitar that is comfortable for young hands to hold. Students will also need to purchase 2 books for this course. An adult will need to tune the guitar daily for students before each class. In this course students will learn how to play simple melodies each week focusing on reading musical notation. Learners will play their guitar during class and will be encouraged to ask questions of the teacher and the class. Singing may be asked of each young musician, only to help in performing the music being taught (a form of ear training). I will demonstrate simple guitar techniques. During each class we will identify and review the names of strings, name and identify parts of the guitar and review songs we have learned. Students will be encouraged to play for the class plus learn how to be an audience member. Lesson 1: Teacher and student introductions, show all guitars, students will play simple tablature like music plus begin reading music on a staff. Students will begin reading music on the treble clef for the first string notes E-F-G. Each student will need to pick a minimum of one song to work on for the upcoming week where they are reading the music notation. Lesson 2: Begin with a greeting time and review music from the previous class. We will go over basic music symbols and music theory. Students will be given a new song to play emphasizing the first string. Students will be given new music to play and be asked to continue practicing their learned music. Students will be asked if they would like to play for the class. Lesson 3: Begin with a greeting time and review music from the previous class. During this lesson we will review basic music symbols and begin work on clapping rhythms. Students will begin learning easy versions of chords C and G7. Students will be asked if they would like to perform for the class. Lesson 4: Begin with a greeting time and review music from the previous class. Students will review basic music symbols, rhythms and chords. New music will be presented to students to continue with their learning. Students will be asked if they would like to perform for the class. No previous experience needed. This class can be used as a review class for students with previous experience.
Metas de aprendizaje
The goal for this course will be to understand how to read and play music on the guitar. Students will be encouraged to play music for peers enrolled in the course, as well as for friends and family members.
Please note some students may learn songs rather fast, if that is the case more music will be distributed.

Orientación para padres
I do suggest that parents stay near by during the lessons (yet remain off camera) to help their young children understand and/or maneuver their hands appropriately around the instrument.
