Because of how detailed this drawing is, students may need to finish their work outside the designated class time.Evaluación
Students will be assessed throughout class and at the end of class through questions and/or sharing of drawings.Experiencia de clase
In this one-time drawing class, students will learn to draw a cute, pink horse (head), with roses and long hair, using colored pencil. Students may make this Valentine themed, but are welcome to design their horse however they please. Students are welcome to come to class with fun facts to share about horses if they want, or fun Valentine traditions they have. During class, I will demonstrate each step for students and have students complete that step along with me. My classroom is a calm, fun, and creative environment where discussion between teacher and students is encouraged. I ask students questions throughout the lesson to check for student understanding. Students may also interact with each other if they want to share what they have learned during class. This is a great class for beginner and intermediate art students. What will students learn? 1. Students will learn techniques to sketch a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a horse (head), using pencil. 2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast, using colored pencils. 3. Students will learn techniques to create realistic hair texture, using colored pencils. 4. Students will learn techniques to draw realistic roses, using colored pencils.

Welcome to my teacher page! My name is Torri McCarrey, and I am very passionate about teaching visual arts and core curriculum. My core curriculum courses often use an art integration approach to learning (e.g., drawing your own monster using adjectives). I also teach realistic animal drawing, landscape painting, holiday themed art, and more! I am a certified teacher with two Bachelor of Science Degrees in teaching, Elementary Education (kindergarten through sixth grade) and Early Childhood Education (pre-kindergarten through third grade). I have also drawn realistic and quirky animal portraits for nearly ten years. My values and philosophy of teaching include providing students with a calm and creative learning environment that provides the opportunity for hands-on learning experiences through art integration. I am also an avid animal lover, gardener, and aspiring illustrator and author, (I am currently working towards publishing my first children’s picture book). If you would like to email me, I try to respond within twenty-four hours, Monday through Friday. Thank you for your time and I look forward to working with you!
