If your student is interested in learning that art of amigurumi crochet, this course will provide all of the basics!  Your student will learn all the skills necessary to make a stuffed pig.  Those skills, in turn, can be applied to other amigurumi animals.  Each week is broken down into the different steps that are needed to create the pig.

Week One: This first week will be very informational, but it is essential that the students are given time to ask any questions that they may have about the required materials.  We will go over all of the supplies that are needed to crochet a pig and learn the magic circle and/or the chain-2 method.  We will start the head of our pig by learning how to increase our rounds.  When we increase our rounds, we are adding stitches that then make the head wider. **A stitch marker will be needed.*

Week Two: We will finish our pig's head by learning how to decrease our rounds.  When we decrease our rounds, we are combining two stitches down to one stitch.  We will learn how to tie off or close the shape.  If you choose to add safety eyes to your pig instead of stitching them on, you will add them in this week.  **Poly-fil/stuffing, safety eyes (optional) and a tapestry needle will be needed for these week.**

Week Three:  We will learn to make one arm/front leg and one ear, using the increases and decreases.  Then, we will tie off our work so the stitches do not come out.  *Poly-fil/stuffing will be needed.**

Week Four: We will make one back leg and one accessory.  The legs will be similar to how the arms are made just slightly larger.  The students will be given the option to create flowers or bows or both for their pig.  **Poly-fil will be needed.**

Week Five: We will start the increase for our pig's body.  This will be very similar to the process that we used to make the head of our pig.  This is a time for review and any other questions about amigurumi.

Week Six: We will finish the pig's body by decreasing our rounds.  Again, this will be similar to the process we used to make the pig's head.  **Poly-fil/stuffing and a tapestry needle will be needed.**

Week Seven: We will make a nose and tail.  Students could also use this week to finish up any homework that was not completed.

Week Eight: We will discuss the techniques needed to sew all of our pieces together.  The students will be given the different options of how to position the pieces.  Ears up or to the side?  Legs standing or sitting? Bow tie or hair bow?  Flower in the hand or on the head?  The students can get really creative this week!
