Photography couldn't get any easier with an effortless out-of-your-seat guided practice. This class teaches your young student about their camera inside and out. Experience isn't required; students will be led, in the beginning, to photograph what they see at home—ending the course with a small project. Week 1: Intro to your digital camera and learn how it works. We will get to know each other and learn basic camera operations. We will have a daily lesson in visual composition, getting students ready for a photography project presented at the end of the 8-weeks. Week 2: Take digital pictures from any environment by creating a studio. I'll add more camera operations to your lesson, adding more information from the last session and, at the same time, keeping the class interactive and fun. Week 3: Manuel settings and beyond. As a group, we'll review the images we created in the last couple of weeks. And discuss how to use the manual settings in your camera. Week 4: Creativity and composing images Week 5: Whether introverted or extroverted, shy or talkative, you will learn to engage your subjects and beyond. Week 6: Learn how to upload and edit images from the camera to the computer. This is meant to demonstrate photo editing. An editing program isn't necessary unless you want to. We will talk about the final project due on Week 8. Week 7: Creating a digital darkroom using editing software on day 2. Week 8: We end class with a scavenger hunt and final project. A fun learning environment is necessary, and students might not get the best experience sitting in front of the computer. The class can be adapted based on students' needs as best as possible. Within the next couple of weeks, classes will rotate from verbal lessons to photographic practice to give students a well-rounded experience.
Metas de aprendizaje
Simple camera operations using a point-and-shoot, DSLR, or mirrorless camera. I will ask students what camera they are using and what they hope to learn—at the same time, guiding them through simple steps to using a camera. Depending on the camera model,s we will cover White Balance, ISO, and Exposure modes with hands-on knowledge. We will photograph a little during class, so bring an object you like to photograph. The goal is more confidence.

With a strong passion for art education and a decade of experience in teaching and photography, I am excited about working in the creative environment of Art education.
From 2013-2020, I had the privilege of teaching photography at the Palm Beach Photography Centre. This experience not only honed my instructional skills but also deepened my understanding of the value of fostering creativity and artistic expression in children and adults. My tenure there allowed me to witness firsthand the transformative power of art education on young minds.
In addition to my teaching role, I dedicated time to enrich myself in K-13 education further. Working as a substitute teacher, I immersed myself in various classrooms, learning from seasoned educators and adopting diverse teaching strategies. This experience, combined with my background as a practicing photographer, uniquely equips me to bridge the gap between theory and practice, inspiring students to explore their artistic talents and push their creative boundaries.
I am drawn to online education for its reputation as an institution that values innovative teaching methods and encourages students to embrace artistic experimentation. I am excited about the prospect of contributing and helping students develop not only as skilled artists but also as critical thinkers and confident individuals.
I graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Journalism and Communications and a focus in the Fine Arts.
