Welcome to Paint with the Masters Camp! We will explore the paintings and art of Picasso, O'Keeffe, Monet, Lichtenstein, and Matisse! We will use acrylic paint on canvas (in addition to mixed media on two occasions where students will use markers and Sharpie to achieve the artistic style of the lesson) to bring student visions to life, guided by the inspiration of these five selected "masters" of the arts! We will briefly discuss cubism, impressionism, pop art, post-modernism, and abstract art. Each day we will spend a few moments discussing the artist of the day and then we will delve into painting our own interpretations of the particular art style. Each will feature introductions to the techniques and style and a sample will be shown, but students will have the flexibility and freedom to select their color schemes, subject matter, and layout if they choose.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will learn about five different artistic "masters", including Georgia O'Keeffe, Pablo Picasso, Roy Lichtenstein, Claude Monet, and Henri Matisse. They will become familiar with a key style in each artist and create their own inspired painting, one each day, for the week of camp. Students will gain confidence in identifying key elements of each style featured on that day of camp. Students will have the chance to broaden their creativity and artistic appreciation as they employ their own interpretations on canvas.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I have taught acrylic painting, drawing, watercolor, and myriad other art classes in schools, libraries, homeschool, "paint night" and birthday party settings. This experience has spanned 20+ years and included preschool, elementary, middle school, and high school students, as well as adults and senior citizens. I look forward to sharing my passion for art and encouraging each child's creativity and imagination as each child creates his or her own summer art portfolio!
