Grado de EE. UU. 1 - 4
In this 4 week flexible schedule class we will learn about 4 different women artists (Cassatt, Morisot, Bracquemond and O'keeffe) and create art pieces that are inspired by their work. We will talk about their genres of art, create pieces to be proud of, and learn about these unique artists through interactive games, virtual museum visits and scavenger hunts.

Learners will post pictures and/or video of their work (and their works in progress) on the classroom page so that fellow learners and the teacher can give feedback on their pieces. It will be uplifting and helpful to the students and peer feedback will be fun and expected!
Students will also engage with each other in art scavenger hunts, fun trivia and fun art related games with each other!
Here are the highlights for each week!

Week 1 - Mary Cassatt- We will discuss her life and the impact she had on the Impressionist movement. We will talk about her piece called Summertime and then students will create their own masterpiece using crayon and watercolor. We will talk about color, composition, creativity, and also the proper use of materials and clean up. The students will be able to create their piece based on Summertime, but in their own style and with their own personality and creativity. They will post pictures of their work on the classroom page so that we can give feedback and encouragement to each learner.

Week 2 - Berthe Morisot - We will discuss her various works and her life as a French painter in the Impressionist period. We will talk about her work as a woman in a man's world of art as well as other Impressionists that were influences at the time. The students will create a Morisot painting based on her masterpiece called Girl in a Boat using crayon and watercolor. Students will also have a chance to do some fun extra games with each other about Morisot and her art.

Week 3 - Marie Bracquemond - We will have fun exploring this little known Impressionist artist. We will be looking at her works and how they fit in with the Impressionists at the time period and how she was a huge influence even though most have never heard of her. We will re-create her work called Small Landscape with House using crayon and watercolor and students will have fun adding their own creativity to their piece. We will play a few interactive games that center around the Impressionists as well as interaction with their art pieces with each other and the teacher.

Week 4 - Georgia O'Keeffe - During this week we will look at the artist Georgia O'Keeffe. We'll look at her life and her influences. Nature and the American Southwest were huge influences. We will look at her use of color and beautiful blending and how this ties into the elements and principles of art. We will re-create her piece called Hibiscus with Plumeria with watercolor and crayon. We will do interactive games related to the art of O'Keeffe.

The classes will be step by step allowing time for each learner to create their piece and be proud of what they create. The videos will be clear and provide at least 2 angles.

No experience is needed, but some parental help could be needed with the painting parts if the student is younger.

Please look at the supplies list for everything needed for these lessons!

I am excited to join Outschool as an art teacher! I LOVE art!
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art from the University of Central Florida with a concentration in painting. I have been teaching private art lessons for 25 years and have been teaching in the classroom for 19 years. I have taught pre school age through High School AP Drawing and AP 2D Design and everything in between.
I have 3 kids (ages 24, 22 and 13) and live in Orlando, Florida where I enjoy photography and streetpainting (chalk art) in my down time. I am a member of the Central Florida Chalk Artists Association and enjoy doing chalk art for events and non-profits. My daughter and I were actually featured on our local TV station back in April which was a lot of fun!
I love teaching students the art skills to be successful! I love to see students who think they can’t draw or paint find success and love what they created and be proud of it!
I like to engage students at their level and help them feel comfortable being creative, have a great time, learn about art even if they don’t realize they are learning along the way. I love to see the AHA moments they have when they create something they thought might be unachievable.
I think that students thrive when they start where they are and have lots of encouragement along the way! I am excited to be able to bring this to students around the country and the world!
