We will start by watching a slideshow containing that atmospheric perspective is where each layer of a landscape gets lighter in tone the farther into the distance it goes. This is because of all the stuff in the atmosphere. We will start by tearing one of our sheets of paper into strips. We will trace the torn edges across the other paper about 4 times to create our mountain tops. The bottom layer is closest to us, so it will be painted the darkest tone, the layer after that is a little bit lighter, and so on. We will talk about how the more black you add to a color, the darker it gets, and the more white you add to a color, the lighter it gets. Also, we will keep in mind that warm colors (red, orange, and yellow) look closer to us than cool colors (green, blue, and purple). When students are finished painting their mountains with atmospheric perspective, they may add birds, trees, or whatever they wish! The first five minutes of class will be introductions, and the last five minutes will be show-and-tell and Q and A.
