The United States learned how vulnerable it was to attack, even across an ocean, when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in World War II. Surely it would be prepared against any other possible attacks in the future – right? Not so fast! Shortly after that event, the United States once again found itself under attack, but it wasn’t the type of attack you might be thinking. Were there powerful explosions? Were there battles over land? After 50 minutes, you will see exactly what the German’s intent was and how their plan unfolded. This one-time class will cover: - the origins of Operation Pastorius and how Nazis landed on American shores. - the undertaking of the plan and its aftermath. - students will discuss the possible consequences of the operation, had it been successful.
