Experiencia de clase

In this 3 day Ooey Gooey Science Class, students will learn about several different science topics, including chemical reactions, physics, and DNA! Each day, students will learn about real scientists and how to use the scientific method while predicting what will happen in our experiments. Students will participate by answering questions, making predictions and showing quick drawings.

Day 1: Chemistry - Reactions
What is a reaction? What makes reactions happen? What are chemical reactions you can see in your daily life?
Develop a hypothesis of what will happen when the ingredients of elephant’s toothpaste are mixed together.
Watch the reaction happen!
Discuss the reaction and prepare to share our results with others.

Day 2: Biology - DNA
What is a living thing? Do all living things have DNA? What is DNA really? Can we model DNA?
Predict if we will really be able to see DNA at the end of the experiment? Will we need a microscope?
Follow along as the experiment is performed and participate by asking questions and making suggestions.
Examine real DNA. What does it look like? How will you tell your friends?

Day 3: Physics - Rockets
What do you know about physics? What is gravity and how does it keep us on the earth? Can we overpower gravity? How do rockets and planes fly? Does gravity not apply to them?
Predict how high our rocket will fly.
Watch as a series of rockets launch and measure how high the rocket flew. Try it at home to see if you get the same results.
