Tutoría privada individualizada de matemáticas de 1.º y 2.º grado con la Sra. Colleen (2 veces por semana)

🌈 This is an ongoing class offering one-on-one tuition for students in Grade 1 and 2 Math that supports the US Common Core Standards. Our sessions will be personalized to align with the attainment of students’ individual academic goals. We will use colorful and interactive presentations as well as whiteboards to help facilitate our learning. 

📗 Following each class, I will post optional homework assignments on our Classroom Page. These assignments are designed to practice and extend the learning goals we have covered during the session. Your child is so welcome to complete these and return them for me to check over.

📕 I aim to make my classes a positive and supportive environment, where we can have fun through learning. We always learn best when relaxed and engaged, and I endeavour to create classes that encourage this. 

🌈 Learning goals for the first eight weeks include, but are not limited to:

GRADE 1:
Week 1:  Place value and reading and writing numbers to 100 using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form (for example, 57 is 5 tens and 7 ones; or fifty-seven)
Week 2: Foundations for fractions: Identifying and making halves, fourths and thirds
Week 3: Determining whether a group of objects has even or odd numbers, up to 20
Week 4: Representing and solving one-step word problems using addition and subtraction within 20
Week 5: Telling the time in hours and half-hours using analog and digital clocks, solving related word problems
Week 6: Organising and interpreting data with up to three categories, using tally charts, pictographs or bar graphs
Week 7: Working with money: Identifying pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters; counting, comparing, and finding equivalent amounts
Week 8: Working with patterns: Identifying, completing, making and growing patterns


GRADE 2
Week 1: Calculating perimeter, and solving related word problems
Week 2: Foundations for multiplication: Working with arrays to represent repeated addition and multiplication
Week 3: Understanding fractions: Identifying the numerator and denominator, working with halves, fourths and thirds, and solving related word problems
Week 4: Place value and reading and writing numbers to 1,000 using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form (for example, 931 is 9 hundreds, 3 tens, 1 one; or nine hundred and thirty-one)
Week 5: Working with money: Identifying dollar bills, quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies, using $ and ¢ symbols appropriately, finding the least number of coins to make an amount, working out change from purchases, and solving related word problems 
Week 6: Organising and interpreting data with up to four categories, using pictographs and bar graphs
Week 7: Telling the time to the hour, half-hour and nearest five minutes using analog and digital clocks, establishing elapsed time and time patterns
Week 8: Representing and solving one- and two-step word problems using addition and subtraction within 50
