In this ongoing origami club, students will learn how to create a collection of traditional Japanese projects for beginners. I hope that this will spark a life-long interest in the ancient, elegant art of origami. The models you will fold out of this class, such as a house that turns into a piano, a sailboat, assorted boxes, animals, and many more should provide a good foundation as you move on to a more advance paper folding. These classes will focus on all aspects of the Japanese art of folding paper. We will work on different folds, and create all kinds of projects. I will start the class with an introduction of what we will be creating that day, and then with a different camera I will spotlight the project that we are working on. I make every effort to ensure that everyone understands the folds, and could even demonstrate in in different angles if needed. I will model step-by-step how to make each fold to complete the project. At the end of the class, we will hold up our patterns and share them with everyone. Each week we fold at least one origami model. Often times two models are completed. This class is for beginners. Origami paper is recommended, but not required. We will sometimes use printer paper or paper the size of 8.5 x 11 *Students DO NOT need any prior knowledge of what origami is to take this class. I do ask that they understand how to crease folds, and know basic shapes (rectangle, square, triangle). The beginning schedule is as follows: Week of (May 23-27): Cup Week of (May 30-June 2): Simple Knife Week of (June 13-17): Finger Trap Week of (June 20-24): Sun Glasses Week of (June 27-July 1): Snapper Puppet
