This scavenger hunt camp will have a different theme each day! I will give the students riddles and clues to figure out the item. The riddles and clues will provide some facts and descriptions of the objects. Then, they will have a minute or so to look in their surroundings to find the item. Due to the nature of the class, your learner will be finding objects in the home and bringing them to show us during class. It will create some activity and motion during class. I have picked common objects, but I am unable to guarantee that they will have the item or be able to find it, but it's okay if they can't. The purpose is to learn about objects and to have fun while learning with others. Students will be advised to be safe while searching for the objects and to return the items where they belong after class is done. Here are our themes for the week: Day 1 - Math (Measurement, Even & Odd, 3D Shapes) Day 2 - Reading/ Language (Words, Patterns, Grammar) Day 3 - Science (Earth, Physical and LIfe) & Social Studies (Patriotic/America) This is a fun activity, but also integrates many learning and social skills: observation, description, critical thinking, comparing and contrasting, turn-taking, discussion, conversation and presentation skills, teamwork, and essential learning and background knowledge in the core subject areas of math, reading, science and social studies. Depending on the age of your learner, the knowledge may be an introduction to some of the content topics and for some it will be a review. Either way, it will be great! My classroom is one of support and encouragement. Some short videos and extra facts may be included. Get ready for some fun and a hunting we will go! *Camp will run with a minimum of four learners.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Hello! My name is Sarah King. I love teaching kids to read and helping them read to learn! I enjoy teaching anything that is reading related, including the areas of comprehension, phonics, phonemic awareness, spelling and vocabulary. I also like teaching writing and social studies. On Outschool, I mostly do individual reading tutoring and I enjoy it so much! I enjoy getting to know my learners and helping them to grow as readers, as well as increasing their confidence and interest in reading. I also have a couple second grade reading and math camps that are fun to teach, as well as a few other interest-based summer camps. I appreciate Outschool because this platform has helped me with making connections with so many wonderful children and families from all over the United States, as well as other countries around the world!
I have been an elementary teacher for 22 years. I was a second-grade teacher for 17 years and currently I am a fifth-grade teacher. My experience includes teaching all subjects, but I am now a departmentalized teacher and teach reading and writing. I also have experience teaching online ESL (English as a Second Language). I have my master's degree in education and I am a certified K-8 teacher in the state of Maine.
I love learning and passing on this love of learning to my students. Learning is best when it is interactive, fun and engaging. I believe I am a patient, encouraging and especially an enthusiastic teacher. I love smiling and laughing with my students!
I am a mom and have two sons, ages 17 and 21. In my free time, I enjoy photography, reading, live music, yoga and taking my dogs on walks. I look forward to teaching your child!
