Meet some fellow powerful young activists and learn about women and girls that have changed the world!

In this supershero crash course, the students will learn about “sheroes,” women that have changed the world for the better. The learners will get inspired by all sorts of role models, from a French scientist to an Olympic gymnast, and even a professional surfer!

The class will start by defining what a shero is. We will do so through a trivia game and brainstorm about superstrengths. A diverse range of sheroes from around the world will be included.

Then, the learners will discuss what lessons they learned and think about their own super strengths.

Finally, the learners will make a craft about what makes each of them powerful! This class is creative, dynamic, and active. Students should come curious and are guaranteed to leave inspired!

My teaching style is enthusiastic, creative, and engaging. I am a flexible person and try to adapt to all learning styles and strengths. I believe classes should be guided by interest, so will adjust the conversation according to student's interest. Any requests for sheroes are welcomed to be submitted before! Students will be encouraged to participate with the class through video and chat features.

No previous knowledge is required. All I ask is that you have an open mind :)
Metas de aprendizaje

Orientación para padres
We will be discussing various feminist figures from around the world. I am an educator and women's and gender studies scholar so I am very familiar with how to navigate difficult conversations; however, this class is meant to be a lighthearted introduction! My perspective is intersectional, so it is important to note that I encourage students to think about diversity in all its forms (not limited to, but including: race, gender orientation, LGBT+ identities, class, and abilities). Students of all genders are welcome in this course and I am committed to using gender-inclusive language! The material and conversations aim to be inclusive and welcoming as they cover and celebrate historical figures of various, diverse backgrounds. They are discussed in a factual, accessible, and approachable way and use various credible backed sources listed below. The class was originally inspired by the book "Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls" by Elena Favilli y Francesca Cavallo.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Maestría en Educación desde Universidad de Alcala de Henares
Licenciatura desde Georgetown University
I have worked with students, particularly those in middle school and early high school, for 8+ years. I have spent the last four years working on conversational skills with 8-11-year-olds. My training in women's and gender studies equips me with the tools and vocabulary for these topics and I am versed in bringing these topics into classrooms for students of younger ages.
