Be warned! Ananse (or Anansi) is always a trickster! Sometimes a man, other times a spider, he likes to think of himself as the wisest person on earth, but he sometimes gets himself caught in his own traps. He is funny and full of mischief, yet there are many values to be learned from him. Examples include honesty, hard work, contentment, and treating others how you want to be treated. This is a fun and practical way for kids to learn about what these virtues and life skills. In this class, students will listen to the interesting adventures of Anansi as I retell the story. We will have time to draw and discuss the lessons learned from the week's story. Students will engage and participate by making predictions and answering questions. Lessons do not build on each other hence your learner can drop in at any time. Below is a weekly schedule of stories: Week 1: Ananse and the pot of wisdom Week 2: Why the spider has a small waist Week 3: Ananse and the mysterious stone Week 4: Why the lizard continually moves his head up and down Week 5: Ananse and the talking melon Week 6: Ananse and the gum statue This list will be updated as we go through the weeks. See you in class! MUTING & UMUTING: During story time, I keep learners muted to make sure everyone can clearly hear the story. Please ensure that your learner can use the mute and unmute functions to participate fully when it is their turn to do so.
