All learners will be given the opportunity to a self assessment. For self paced learners, a narrative evaluation is available upon request. Students taking the course for homeschool credit can submit a portfolio of class work for evaluation and feedback.Experiencia de clase

In "My Weirder-est School: Ms Barr Has Gone Too Far!" by Dan Gutman students will follow the adventures of AJ and his friends as they learn about geography from a very unusual teacher. Students will read three chapters of this accessible novel in between sessions. Students will do Kahoot! review, participate online in class discussions and do creative projects that encourage literacy development through reading, writing, and drawing. Throughout the class, students will also have the opportunity to reflect on their own experiences, travels, and dream destinations. Activities include creating a visual scavenger hunt, an infographic, and preparing a typical dish from another country. Your learner will even have the chance to design some dog underwear! Although this class is for all learners , it will be especially helpful to learners with learning differences and reluctant readers who need low reading level high interest books to develop reading fluency and comprehension. It is designed with supports in mind that help accommodate students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and other learning differences. This class does not meet live. If you are choosing the self-paced option, all interaction will be in our online classroom. The teacher will contribute to online discussions and provide feedback for student work.

Students will gain fluency and comprehension by reading and discussing the novel. Students engage in purposeful writing by responding to discussion and reflection questions in our online classroom. Students will also develop writing and literacy skills through creative projects like developing a photo scavenger hunt or reading a recipe.

In addition to reading and reflecting on "Mrs. Barr Has Gone Too Far", learners will design a dog underwear souvenir about a country they would like to visit. Lección 4:
Research a Real Country and Make Something Tasty
In addition to reading and reflecting on "Mrs. Barr Has Gone Too Far", learners will research a country and cook a traditional dish from that country. Otros detalles

This class is designed to support students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and other learning disabilities with a low reading level book. Students can use graphic organizers, create videos, or draw to respond to class posts and videos.

Text to Speech accompanied by reading can be a good strategy for dyslexic learners as enlarging the print in e-book format. Learners may need colored pens or pencils and paper for many projects. The final project of the class includes cooking so this may require some ingredients and adult supervision.
