In this summer camp course that meets 4 times in 1 week for 90 minutes each session, students will be able to learn more about some of the most popular family friendly broadway musicals by dancing along to their soundtracks. In this course, students will learn basic musical theater dance steps. Musical theater can encompass all styles of dance (jazz, ballet, tap, hip hop, and lyrical) and brings them together with different music. Musical theater dancing is about interpreting the music and being able to use your emotion to express the dance move even more. This course allows us to investigate a different broadway musical each day by starting out with learning more about the musical and then dance to the soundtrack. This is a great course for students who want to try out a different style of dance, or who have tried musical theater before and just want to take an extra dance class! All ability levels are welcome! Course Outline: Day 1: Aladdin Day 2: Matilda Day 3: Wicked Day 4: The Lion King Each day outline: Introductions/greetings Reading the summary of the selected musical and learning more about it Begin dancing to soundtrack of selected Broadway musical Warmup Center work (Work on certain movements that will be in the dance we learn at the end) Combination (We will learn a short routine) Closing (discuss what we learned)

Parents, please make sure students have enough room to move around and are wearing comfortable clothing that they can move in! Students are also invited to dress up in character if they would like to!
