I welcome learners of all identities and backgrounds into my classes. Week 1 - The Circle of Fifths We will learn how to figure out all of the major scales with sharps, using the Circle of Fifths method. I will use the white board in Zoom to go through the entire circle of Fifths, step by step with student participation, as we are discovering how many sharps are in each scale and how to figure it out. Week 2 - Major Chords We will learn how major chords (major triads) are constructed from the 1, 3 and 5 of the major scale. The students will participate, as we figure out the major chords from each of the scales that we learned last week. I will be writing on the white board in Zoom, as the students take turns creating the major chords from the formula. Week 3 - We will move on to Minor Chord Triads, Diminished Chord Triads and Augmented Chord Triads. Referring back to the circle of Fifths and the sharp major scales, we will learn the formulas for the minor triad, the diminished triad, and the augmented triad. I will be using the Zoom white board, and the students will participate, as we use the formulas for the different types of triads, to create them together. My teaching style is relaxed and casual, but with a focus on each individual student and their understanding of the material. The students will be invited to participate, which will help them with understanding of the concepts.
