Lesson 1
What is the conductor doing?
Where do the trombones sit in your ensemble? What is the conductor doing and how do I know they are communicating with me?
 Week 2
Lesson 2
...but I know my part.
Did you play your part or practice your part? We will seek to understand the differences, and layout the ground rules of performance practice.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
What to do while the director rehearses another section
Buzz, sing in your head, study how your part fits in with whatever they are saying. If you are in rest mode, how do you stay engaged beyond counting
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Your part - and another part
This class focuses on hearing different notes of the chord. How do we know which one we have and how to play the intonation correctly? We will develop melodic ear tone skills.
 Week 5
Lesson 5
What's my role in the ensemble?
How do you know why your notes were written? Let's explore section solo, featured section, solo, solo + support, and playing the harmony or bass line.
 Week 6
Lesson 6
Technical performance skills
Let's explore what technical skills are asked for on standard auditions. We will review various skills used for state honors and college ensembles, however we will be working at reduced speeds. This is about developing technique and setting a path towards long term development.

All about the extras
There is so much more to playing your trombone - like glissandos, playing on mouthpiece only, mutes, and costumes. Let's explore how ensembles have fun .... in the trombone section.

Lesson 8
Concert etiquette
What to do on and off stage. How do you enter and exit the stage? What to do with your trombone when your are not playing or need to walk away from your chair?
 Week 9
Lesson 9
Ensemble day
It's all play day. We will join off mute, and practice together, lagging internet and all.

Lesson 10
Literature walk
Perform your choice of a trombone ensemble work for the class.

Laura has served all ages in the instructional, teaching, and coaching field for over 20 years and is a proud member of the National Association for Music Education. Her passion lies in helping others achieve their goals. Laura's skill in making that a reality is her ability to take complex concepts and break them down into their elements. Then, finding their connections to lived experiences. While most of Laura's time has focused on music, technology, and public speaking, communication will always have a special place in her heart.

No pre-requisites are required. This class if for the beginning trombone and ensemble member. 
A learner supply list of music is on its way.
