Multiplication Bootcamp: un campamento de verano de matemáticas a tu propio ritmo

This is class is structured in a very similar way to my one week live version of this class with the exception that you can watch the videos on a day and time that fits your schedule.

Attention!

Calling all trainee mathematicians.

Fall in for 5 weeks of fun maths where we grow and strengthen our multiplication skills.

Activities will include:
> Daily Drills
> Progress Charts
> Practice Exercises
> Multiplication Missions
> Passing Out Parade and Certificates for all

Each week Mrs Jones will post a video on a Monday for your child to watch and participate with.
At the start of each class there will be a set of timed drills after which your child will need mark and submit their scores privately to Mrs Jones.
During the class your child will be taught a core piece of learning related to one or more multiplication tables.
Learners will be prompted to share what they are learning with other learners and with me through photos, messages and videos.
At the end of each class there will be an explanation of the resources to be used for daily practice.
For daily practice I will give you plenty of resources to boost your child's learning of new times tables and to practice times tables that are not yet fluent. All resources come with full instructions.
When I receive the results of your child's drills, I will guide your child on what will be beneficial to practice next. 
You will also be able to use all resources after the Boot Camp to keep the learning current.

This class focuses on multiplication confidence, memorising and fluent recall of multiplication facts because I know how beneficial this is to later Math.

Class 1 – Daily drills, Commutativity, Fact Families, Multiplication Square and Flash Cards Intro
Class 2 – Daily drills, 11 and 9 times tables (achievable by all learners no matter what their experience) and pattern spotting using the multiplication square.  Treasure Hunts Intro for embedding multiplication facts.
Class 3 – Daily drills, Finger trick for memorising 6, 7 and 8 times tables, Extension flashcards Intro (these include the trickiest multiplications plus square numbers)
Class 4 – Daily drills, Recap on 9s, finger tricks and any multiplication facts that learners would like extra support to recall. Explanation of the Forgetting Curve, brain science research about memory and why recall practice is so important.
Class 5 – Final recall of all times tables using all Daily drills. Extra support as required. Summary of everything we have covered this week. Graduation Certificate.

I get a very wide range of abilities on this class and so the Boot Camp is differentiated and flexible. I start at where each learner is and tweak the course direction to the needs of the current cohort and each individual learner.
It is the daily practice that makes the biggest difference to a learner’s confidence and progress through the classes. The timed daily drills promote fluency and seeing their progress class by class keeps up the motivation.
Your child will be able to access this class best if they are already fluent at recalling their 2 times table facts.

For students who want extra challenge and are working on improving the fluency of their 6, 7, 8 and 12 times tables, I can provide, on request, extra math that enhances their learning by making connections to future math concepts such as square numbers, multi-digit multiplication and factors.

Further Details
During this Multiplication Boot Camp classes we will:
- Identify the times tables that your child knows and needs to work on.
- Practice these times tables during the class and during daily practice.
- Track progress on a visual chart through a series of recall-mini tests. 
- Break down each times-table and explore ways of making learning a specific times table easier. This might be by 
     •	using a method, such as a finger ‘trick’ with the nine times table.
     •	by knowing that the 4’s is double the 2’s and the 8’s is double the 4’s.
     •	exploring axioms such as commutativity which allows a child to rely on the fact that 4 x 3 = 3 x 4.

Three ways you can continue to strengthen and embed your multiplication skills following our Boot Camp:
-	FLASH CARDS - I recommend you continue practicing with the flash cards until you have memorised ALL of your multiplication number facts and can recall them fluently. 
-	TREASURE HUNTS - The Treasure Hunts will help embed this learning.
-	TEST YOURSELF - If you want to check how much you have remembered, then you can always get someone to time you repeating the Drills we do at the start of every class?
These are all, research proven, effective ways of learning and storing learning in your long-term memory – for any topic or subject.
