Experiencia de clase

Nivel de inglés: desconocido
Grado de EE. UU. 4 - 7
Nivel Beginner - Intermediate
This class is designed for students with some basic experience in playing the ukulele and should be comfortable playing the C chord and F chord independently. Class activities will focus on two main areas:

Students will learn a total of four songs over the four class sessions. Music playing skills will have these primary areas of focus:

 - Learning chords.
   - Chord-focused songs will expand the student's knowledge of chords to include G, A, and D. Emphasis in instruction will draw student attention to hand position in addition to finger placement, and direct finger placement for improved movement between chords. Most songs use more than one chord, so effective playing of chords involves not only the memorization of the spots on the fretboard to place one's fingers, but also the knowledge of which fingers to use and how to position the hand to facilitate movement to and from each chord.
  - Movement between chords. Memorizing finger placement for a chord is the first - and easier - step. It is the ability to move from one chord to another that allows facility in playing. In this class especially, we look closely at hand and wrist as well as finger positions to determine the most efficient and effective ways to move between chords.
 - Playing strumming patterns. Strumming patterns vary in the direction of the strum, the rhythmic pattern of the strum, or both.
- Playing Melodies
 - Plucking individual strings for specific pitches
 - Playing a melody through plucking
 - An introduction to tablature

This class is not designed to accommodate individual student song requests. Students who have a specific song that they idividually would like to study are encouaged to message the teacher in advance to see if their song request meets the parameters of the class. Students with specific song request and their parents should also consider enrollment in One-on-One ukulele sessions.
Metas de aprendizaje
- Students will be exposed to playing chords in the G, A, and D families. These chords could include G, G6, G minor, G7, A, A7, A minor, D, D minor, D7.
 - Students will have the opportunity to improve their facility in switching between chords during songs.

Lista de útiles escolares
- a soprano (20 inches), concert (23 inches), or tenor (26 inches) ukelele. Please note: This course is NOT suitable for a baritone ukelele (30 inches). The instructor will use a 23-inch concert ukelele.
 - a digital tuner (preferable) or access to GuitarTuna. Like a digital tuner, GuitarTuna "listens" to your ukelele and tells you whether a string is in tune when you play it. In order to do so, it will need access to your microphone (in order to "hear" your ukelele). A digital tuner is *preferable*, but GuitarTuna is a good substitute.
