Move-In Phonics With Teacher Cindy is a 12 week, 1:1 phonics program that uses movement and rhyme to help students better understand the connection between letters and letter sounds such as r-controlled vowels and consonants and digraph trigraphs, and diphthongs. This program will give your child the necessary skills to read words that are not easily decodable. I believe exercising these phonics reading skills will require practice, therefore, keeping a constant schedule is necessary for reading success. Not only will I be your child's teacher but a cheerleader as well!

Topics that we will focus on include:  
Week 1: November 16, 2021 and November 18, 2021
Lesson 1:  Short vowel sounds (a,e,i,o,u) and consonant letter sounds (Students should have a good understanding of this already.)
Lesson 2:  Long vowel sounds (a_e, e_e, i_e, o_e, u_e)  (Students should have a good understanding of this already.)

Week 2: November 23, 2021 and November 25, 2021
Lesson 3:  Digraph sounds (ch, sh, th) 
Lesson 4:  Digraph sounds (ph, wh)

Week 3: November 30, 2021 and December 2, 2021
Lesson 5: Diphthongs vowel sounds (aw, au) 
Lesson 6: Diphthongs vowel sounds (oi,oy) 

Week 4: December 7, 2021 and December 9, 2021
Lesson 7: R-Controlled vowel sounds (ar, er, ir) 
Lesson 8: R-Controlled vowel sounds (or, ur) 

Week 5:  December 14, 2021 and December 16, 2021
Lesson 9:  Diphthongs vowel sounds (ow, oo)

Week 11: February 8, 2022 and February 10, 2022
Lesson 21: Trigraphs - 3 letter consonant blends (shr, squ)

Week 12:  Februrary 15, 2022 and February 17, 2022
Lesson 23:  Trigraphs - 3 letter consonant blends (thr) and (ear, high)
Lesson 24:  Trigraphs  (air, ure)

This is a very brief outline. I want to give you a sense of direction as to where we are heading. If your child requires more time to practice certain concepts, I am more than happy to focus on those points. I am flexible and willing to work with you. As a team, we can design an individualized program suitable for him/her. For optimal success, please give me an idea as to where your child is in his/her reading before our first class.
