Calling all monsters, aliens, and mythological beasts!

This is a class for children who like to draw the fantastical. It's a place where creativity and imagination rule. Every child will be encouraged to explore the reaches of their own imagination and create the most wondrous creatures possible.

The class primarily focuses on creativity but a number or drawing techniques will be used and discussed including shape language, shape building, using random forms, and dadaist concepts. 

Learners are self-directed and able to choose the subjects that interest them and pursue them at their own pace. Guidance will be offered at every step of the process. Children are encouraged to find visual references to help guide them on their journey. Children may find inspiration in life as wells as in animal books, film, video games, comics, and more.

The class structure is informal. The number of drawings or creatures a child wants to make is entirely up to the student. Children are encouraged to ink and color their drawings to a finished level but it is not mandatory. Coloring and rendering techniques will also be discussed as needed.

Children are permitted to converse with each other in a respectful and constructive manner during class. Learning to communicate our ideas and express ways we can improve in a positive way helps us all grow.

This is an ongoing class and children are allowed to join and drop as their schedule demands. Materials for this class are learner determined. Students will require pencil and paper. More advanced may enjoy watercolors or gouache. Students who prefer to work digitally are also welcome.
