Grado de EE. UU. 5 - 8
This course will provide a comprehensive and engaging approach to learning that covers the Nature of Science, Physical science, Life Science, and Earth Science. It will include labs and demonstrations of scientific concepts. It will meet your student's science curriculum needs! Semester 1-3 covers 6th, 7th & 8th-grade science content and can be taken in any order. Many learners begin their middle school science journey apprehensive and little interest/knowledge in science. After the course has ended, they have grown to enjoy science and are much more confident in their scientific knowledge!

This course will include presentations, guided notes, videos, reading, writing, graphic organizers, foldables, experiments/labs, and demonstrations. I'm a firm believer in creating engaging learning experiences. I'm excited to begin a journey of discovering science with your learner!

A self paced course allows learners to cover material during a time that is convenient for them each week. Students are encouraged to check in with the teacher weekly via the Outschool classroom/private messaging, which will allow for more engagement between the teacher and learner.

Participation will include an introduction post, discussion posts, assignments, and projects in the Outschool Classroom/private messaging. This allows students to process what they are learning by collaborating with peers and the teacher. Participation in assignments allows students to practice and reinforce learning. This also provides opportunities for the teacher to gauge student learning and provide interventions if necessary. Private messages or classroom comments are usually responded to within 24 hours with the exception of weekends.

****** Courses are not graded unless requested. If grades are needed, please let me know upon enrollment or prior to the course beginning to arrange submission of work for grading/feedback. Thank you.********

Lección 1:
Unveiling Science: The Adventure Begins!
Embark on a thrilling journey to uncover the secrets of science and understand its power. Unveil the traits that make science captivating – it's like solving puzzles, making predictions, and testing theories!
Lección 2:
The Art of Scientific Design
In our second meeting, "Unleashing Science: The Art of Scientific Design," students delve into experimental design and variables. They learn to formulate hypotheses, identify variables, and understand the significance of precise experimental planning. This session aims to deepen their grasp of scientific inquiry and the essential role of meticulous experimental design in obtaining reliable results.
Lección 3:
Repetition/Replication; Branches of Science; Twirly-Bird Lab
In Meeting 3, we explore the concepts of repetition and replication in experiments, understand different branches of science, and engage in the Twirly-Bird Lab. Students learn how repeating experiments ensures reliability, discover various branches like biology and physics, and apply these principles in a fun lab activity where they design and test twirly-bird toys to understand aerodynamics.
Lección 4:
Review Scientific Method & Variables and Drops on a Penny Lab
We revisit the Scientific Method and delve deeper into variables. We also conduct the Drops on a Penny Lab, where students investigate surface tension by experimenting with water droplets on a penny. This hands-on activity reinforces their understanding of experimental design and variables while exploring scientific concepts in a fun and engaging way.
