Qué está incluido

8 reuniones en vivo
6 horas presenciales
Tarea
1 hora por semana. Students will receive assignments/worksheets weekly that will reinforce what was learned in class. The worksheets will be completed on Nearpod using a link that I will provide. The students will NOT be required to login to Nearpod. The assignments/worksheets will provide them with instant feedback on their performance. I will receive a report of their performance once it is completed on the website. If there are parts of the assignments in which students are having trouble it will be reviewed during the next class. We will be completing some optional labs in class, but some weeks the students will have optional labs that they can complete at home. All of these assignments will be used to reinforce what the students learned in class.

Each week in this 8-week course students will view an interesting interactive presentation. Many classes will include demonstrations and optional in class experiments. Most labs are prerecordings of me performing the experiment. However, I will teach each step live over zoom as we pause and work through the video. I prerecord the labs to ensure I can watch the students over zoom to help them properly perform each step. The students have the option to perform the experiment at home along with me or observe me performing the experiment. If students wish to participate at home, required supplies for each experiment will be provided at least a week in advance. Most if not all optional experiments use simple household items.

Throughout the lesson the learners progress will be measured through interactive games, quizzes, and questions within the Nearpod presentation. They will be responding on their own devices.

There is a free textbook that will be used along with this class CK-12 Physical Science for Middle School. This class will cover sections 7, 8 and 10. The book can be freely viewed at CK-12.org (https://flexbooks.ck12.org/cbook/ck-12-middle-school-physical-science-flexbook-2.0/)

Hi, I am very happy to have the opportunity to help your child learn and realize their full potential in Science. My classes are fun and exciting. Your Learners will learn all about Science while completing cool and fascinating experiments. In each class students will get the opportunity to perform fun but educational labs. They will learn how and why everything works. I'm a Chemist. I obtained a BS in Chemistry and Secondary Education with a minor in Computer Science from Longwood University. I have taught in the public school system teaching Chemistry and Mathematics on the High School level. In addition, I have taught Science classes on the Middle School level. I also teach ESL courses online. I also love crafting and cooking. I began learning to sew, knit, bake and cook at about 8 years old at home and in the 4-H club. Since College I have also fell in love with real estate, and have become a real estate investor. It's like real life monopoly. Real estate investing is fun and challenging all in one.

Currently I am a Chemist for the Department of Transportation. What I do enjoy most about my job with the DOT is when I get the opportunity to work with STEM students throughout the year. They visit and I get to show them all the cool stuff I do at work. I have always had a love for science and teaching. I would always find a way to do experiments and teach my dolls as a kid. I love teaching so much and can't wait to possibly inspire more future Scientist.
