4+ horas por semana. This is highly dependent on student ability level and the subject area, but generally for non ACT/SAT prep classes there will be 1-2 hours of assigned work at the end of the session and for ACT/SAT it could be up to 4 hours of work (completing a properly timed test and reviewing it is a time consuming process.) If you'd prefer that I don't assign homework I'm happy to not do that, although I don't recommend that for best learning practices, particularly in skill-based areas like mathematics or physics.

This is a one-hour open ended tutoring session in any area of math, physics, chemistry, or ACT/SAT test prep. Students can request specific help with a particular topic, preparing for an upcoming test or quiz, reviewing older material, or even getting ahead on what's coming up next in their course. Although I'm happy to cover new topics from scratch, students are encouraged to be prepared with specific topics that they would like to work on so we can make the best use of our time. Students can absolutely split their time between multiple subjects - if you'd like to spend 15 minutes on chemistry, 15 minutes on Algebra II, and then 30 minutes on the English portion of the ACT, we can certainly do that!

I emphasize frequent examples and regular feedback during my sessions - I firmly believe that an hour of lecture is not a good way to maximize learning. I'll generally try to answer any questions my students have coming in, teach any new topics that may be requested, and then focus on providing and guiding students through as many examples as needed while emphasizing good note taking strategies and offering feedback.

Students should come prepared with a way to take notes (paper and pencil is preferred) as well as any quizzes, tests, homework sets, or study guides that they may want to work through. They should also bring an appropriate calculator, if relevant. Students are also encouraged to independently review and study their materials before we meet; we can make a lot more progress if they have already narrowed down some specific questions or topics that they would like to discuss.

At the conclusion of the session I will typically recommend and assign extra practice to supplement our discussion which should be completed before our next meeting. Answer keys for individual review will usually be provided, as I believe immediate feedback is essential.

Orientación para padres
There will not be any sensitive or objectionable material covered during my sessions, and although some SAT or ACT reading passages may be political in nature I'll be treating them academically without any inherent bias on my part. Here are the outside resources that may be referenced during our session: Desmos - this is an online graphing calculator, which is often useful for demonstrating concepts. No account is required. Paul's Online Math Notes - a great online resource primarily for short calculus lessons and a big repository of practice problems and examples, no account required. KutaSoftware - a large selection of worksheets with answers provided, for all areas of mathematics from pre-algebra through calculus. You can make an account but it's not necessary to download the worksheets. Ptable - just a simple online periodic table, if you don't have a paper copy. No account. APlusPhysics - a medium sized selection of physics worksheets appropriate for up to honors physics. No account needed. The Physics Classroom - a very large collection of physics problems, mostly conceptual in nature, with no account required.
Lista de útiles escolares
Scientific or graphing calculator (required for SAT/ACT, will otherwise depend on the course) I recommend the Casio fx-115ES Plus (~$20) for a scientific calculator and the TI-84 Plus CE (~$120) for a graphing calculator. Worksheets and homework will be provided - no additional books are necessary. A dedicated notebook for our sessions is recommended
