Jump in any time! Each class can stand alone. Join for as many weeks as you would like and pause whenever you need to! As a teacher, it is so important that all of my students feel included and important! Each student has something to offer. There is a lot of intention in creating a warm and engaging classroom environment and community among the students. I give lots of opportunities for students to participate without putting them on the spot. Children with various learning styles can thrive in this class! This class includes lots of support documents that are uploaded weekly! Some will be used during class while others are intended for enrichment and practice outside of class time. This class is all about learning and reviewing math concepts that are presented to 1st and 2nd grade students in most curriculum options. Concepts include, but are not limited to: addition, subtraction, money, time, shapes, place value, fractions, story problems, skip counting, comparing numbers and so much more! Each week will focus of one main concept. Through the week, we will learn, practice and reinforce this concept with games, read alouds, activities, show & tell, discussion, class demonstrations and more! Here is the weekly breakdown for the first 4 weeks! Week of May 12: Basic Addition Week May 19: Basic Subtraction Week of May 26: 2-digit Addition without regrouping At the beginning of class, each student is greeted warmly by name by their teacher and classmates. Then we do a meaningful warm-up activity to review the concept that we covered from the week before. Then we will practice and review various calendar concepts by having an abbreviated calendar time. Students will have a calendar document available to them that will be useful for practice and reinforcing our focused calendar skills! On Wednesdays, the new topic is presented! The teacher may share a read aloud that demonstrates this skill. Students will be asked connection questions about the concept to gauge comprehension. Students will practice the skill with an activity (usually a provided print-out that I will also have on screen). Students can demonstrate their understanding of the concept by participating in a class game! On Thursdays, the format will be similar, but instead of a read aloud, the teacher will do a hands-on demonstration of the weekly concept with math manipulatives, white board or other materials. Show & Tell: There will ALWAYS be a show and tell time during class. I strongly recommend that your student take as much ownership of this activity as possible. The show and tell assignment will almost always be connected to our math concept of the week. For example: if we are learning about 3-D shapes, they will be asked to bring 3-D shaped items from around their house. We will end the class by saying good bye to one another and talking briefly about what to expect for the following class!

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I have a Master's degree in Teaching and a teaching certificate, Early Childhood through 4th grade. I have 11+ years of elementary teaching experience. I love teaching early learning concepts and making it fun, enjoyable and developmentally appropriate. I am also a homeschool mom to 3 children: 8, 6 and 4 years old. I can offer a kind of teaching style that works well with children who have been in a more traditional school setting like private school or public school. But as a homeschool parent, I can also appeal to children who are used to being at home for their schooling. I can't wait to meet your child and your family!
