Arte matemático: ¡Formas divertidas de hacer arte y matemáticas juntos!

Using a mix of math concepts and art, learners will gain a basic understanding of geometry, linear equations, patterns, and angles.  Learners will use graph paper, a protractor, compass, and ruler to create artistic graphs and pictures.  The following topics will be covered through discussion and hands-on drawing:

Class 1 - Linear Equations:  y  =  mx  +  b   
How to graph a straight line and how to mathematically represent it will be covered.  We'll also create fun art using straight lines on graphs.
Class 2 - Triangles and Angles
Learn about the three types of triangles and all about angles.  Create a drawing using triangles and circles.  An infinity triangle (Escher) will be  discussed.
Class 3 - Pythagorean Theory - Sides of a Triangle
Solving for sides and angles of triangles.  We'll draw an infinity triangle (Escher).  We'll make three dimensional triangles and think about how to stack them.
Class 4 - Parabolas:  y   =   x^2
Discussion of parabolas.  How to plot them.  Create a fun colorful graphed rainbow or umbrella or any other creation.
Class 5 - Fibonacci series
Learn about this amazing series and learn how to draw it.  Turn the drawing into a snail or something else.

There will be open lecture and discussion about math and art.  Learners are welcome to offer ideas and ask questions.  I ask open questions, that learners are welcome to answer.  If no one offers an answer, I just  simply answer and continue.  I'm open to all learning styles.  Learners may be as involved as they wish.  They may want to do the drawings and be very involved or they may wish to just watch.  

No previous knowledge of math is required.  Varying levels of math will be covered in class.
