**Note: This is a flex class and there will be no live meetings. If you want an ongoing class I have this one: https://outschool.com/classes/uncovering-us-civics-and-government-xNqnykOq?usid=CPUvTyDm&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link I also have this one-time class: https://outschool.com/classes/the-basics-of-the-three-branches-of-us-government-zcYrqnpd?usid=CPUvTyDm&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link This class is a basic overview of the three branches of the federal government: Legislative (Congress: House and Senate), Judicial (Supreme Court), and Executive (President). I like my classes to be interactive. I will have videos of me using a PowerPoint and lecture. There will be a self-paced Nearpod lesson and a worksheet to follow along with the lecture. In the end, we will play Kahoot to test and reinforce what they learned in class. You will be able to see how your other classmates did with the Kahoot game for a friendly competition. Later in the week, there will be optional assignments if you want even more to supplement your homeschooling. We will do a project where you learn and tell the class about your Congressman, and two Senators. Tell me about the candidates who are running for Congress. If you have Senators running for reelection, tell us about that too. Post to the classroom page and the rest of the class can comment and discuss your work. My experience on this subject is that I worked for a political TV station for ten years including two election years. Week One: Overview of all three branches, review, and how each branch checks each other. Week Two: Legislative Branch: Congress: House of Representatives and Senate Week Three: Executive Branch: Presidency and Supporting jobs Week Four: Judicial Branch: Supreme Court *Note: This is a flex class so there are no live meetings.

Orientación para padres
We will use Nearpod and Kahoot. No account is needed for either of these sites. Politics and history will be discussed. At the beginning of class, I will let the children know that they are allowed to respectfully disagree with each other but no name calling will be allowed. If this happens I will give a warning and a consequence.
Fuentes
I will use resources from websites such as YouTube, the History Channel, College websites, C-SPAN in the classroom, Nearpod, Kahoot, and other educational sites.
Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Licenciatura desde George Mason University
Worked for a political TV station for 10 years including two election years. Part of my job was to watch the House and Senate daily. I went to New Hampshire for the primaries and two conventions. Worked on a live daily show across the street from the Capitol and met many prominent political figures including four former Presidents. I also worked on a few history series such as a President's and a Writer's Tour. Later worked for a video company that produced video lectures on many subjects including political history.
