What is science of taxonomy? How are marine animals classified? What are the adaptations marine creatures have that help them survive in their ocean habitat? How does human activity impact these environments. These will be the questions driving the course content during our time in class. Each class will follow a similar format to the following: Part 1: Discussion question on the weekly topic to access learner's prior knowledge. Part 2: Content exploration through discussion and multi-media presentation. Part 3: Concept review and student assessment using techniques such as, but not limited to: short answer description, identification, student created products and games. Summer 2021 T/TH Schedule June 22nd/24th: Classification and Methods & Porifera: Sponges June 29th/July 1st: Cnidarians: Jellyfish and Their Relatives & Marine Worms July 6th/July 8th: Mollusca: Gastropods and Bivalves & Cephalopods July13th/July 15th: NO CLASS July 20th/22nd: Arthropods: Shrimp and Crabs & Echinoderms: Starfish July 27th/29th: Introduction to Marine Chordates & Fish Adaptations
