Fans of Mo Willem's Pigeon and Elephant and Piggie books will love this engaging class! During this class we will: 1. Discuss what it means to make a prediction using real-life examples. 2. Learn and apply strategies for making predictions while we read "I Broke My Trunk" and "The Pigeon Find a Hot Dog" by Mo Willems 3. Practice refining and revising predictions as we learn more information. 4. Verify and evaluate our predictions once we've finished reading. Making predictions is an important reading comprehension strategy. It encourages students to use information like titles, text and pictures to anticipate what will happen in the story. This helps readers to think ahead and ask questions, allowing them to become more actively involved in their reading. It helps to activate students' prior knowledge and make connections to their own lives. Please note: this class is not endorsed or promoted by the author or publisher.

Hello! My name is Rachel Call and I believe we live in a big, bright beautiful world! I have traveled and lived in over 25 different countries on five different continents and I am passionate about culture, language and diversity. I believe it is important for children to learn to embrace our differences, both large and small, by learning to see the world with different lenses.
I believe learning should be fun, active and engaging. I think children learn best when they feel valued and can fully enjoy the learning process. I love to read (especially fun children's books like Elephant and Piggie!) and I love making kids laugh! I strive to offer both an immersive and inclusive experience in my classes.
I have taught social studies, English and math both in the brick and mortar classroom but also as an online ESL teacher. I have a Bachelors of Science in Sociology with minors in African Studies and International Development from Brigham Young University. I am also a wife and a mama to two spunky little girls and one moody little cat.
**For siblings enrolled in the same one-time class, I offer a 20% discount! Please note, they must be in the same section (same class, same time) to qualify. Simply sign your children up for class(es) as usual and I will process a 20% refund on their enrollment shortly afterwards. You will receive a refund email to show the refund has been processed!**
