Students will discuss measurement, and the complexity involved in taking the measurement of something that has no beginning, and no end (a circle!). We will explore concepts of infinity and approximation.

We will measure the circumference and diameter of multiple household objects and record our data in a table. Students will then use this data to explore the relationship between the circumference and diameter and its relationship to the commonly used value of pi.

Students will also discuss rational and irrational numbers,

Perfil
Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Teaching is my passion. I love to teach anything and everything, but especially math, science, music, and social skills. I have experience teaching and tutoring math, physics and chemistry. My experience in music teaching includes voice, piano, and violin, individually as well as in ensembles, and I have played the violin for 30 years.

I have seven children whose current ages are 3-18. They all play a musical instrument, so our home is full of music (and wrestling, and Legos, and laughter, and the occasional tantrum!). I also play string instruments, piano, and sing. I am involved with my children's education, frequently learning alongside them.

My educational background includes a bachelors degree in mathematics with a minor in physics and a Masters of Education in Secondary Education.

I have 18 years of teaching experience, and love teaching learners of all ages and abilities. I believe that every human is capable of learning if you meet them where they are and guide them down the path of knowledge. I believe that learners remember what they deeply understand, and it is my goal to help you deeply understand whatever it is you would like to learn!
