Perdido en el bosque de otoño: sala de escape (edades 10-11) Habilidades matemáticas avanzadas

Children with be guided through the challenges to facilitate them to escape the Autumn forest.
During this one time class, children will discover they have become lost in the forest after playing during the day. They do not know how to get home and their only hope lays on a grownups phone who has a map that can lead them to safety. However they have forgotten the code to the phone and cannot access it. The only way to unlock the phone is to discover the code through a series of challenges.

The challenges will test various maths skills including; addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, inverse operations, fractions and place value. Children will not only complete the mathematical problems but solve codes to find the final phone code.

Children will work together as a team or in different groups to solve the problems the quickest and before the timer reaches zero and the phone is locked forever. 

As the teacher, I will be facilitating problem solving between the groups ensuring great team work and moving the group on throughout the clues, children will be opportunity to make mistakes and try and problem solve between themselves. I will teach maths skills along the way if they are common misconceptions or if children have time at the end. I will also be explaining any rules and clues the children do not understand in order for them to work through the problem.

All children will get the opportunity to speak and discuss their answers, working together to solve the clues.


This level is suitable for year 6 children advanced in maths skills. Support will be given if required for children needing extra guidance. This will be made on a professional teacher judgement.
