During this interactive storytelling class, students will explore the Presidential Inauguration ceremony in Washington, D.C. The US is currently preparing to welcome a new American President. This is a popular and important event for American citizens. To celebrate this event, Teacher MoMo will read the fourth part of her original kids' story, The Little Voter. The Little Voter 4 follows a new character, Little Voter Ze, as she enjoys a special girls' trip to Washington, D.C. with her pregnant Mom and Grandma. The story covers the full Presidential Inauguration morning day from waking up early to waiting in line to enter the National Mall to ending the morning with a family photo. The family also discuses wearing a mask as the inauguration is in present-day pandemic. Past presidents are mentioned as well, such as JFK's famous quote from his 1961 inauguration. Younger students of all levels will enjoying listening and sharing photos, favorite items and/or pictures with the class. The class will begin with a very short introduction to the basic facts about the Election Day. Next, students will listen to Teacher MoMo read the story. Throughout the lesson, Teacher MoMo will ask questions and have students share personal items or pictures that relate to the story. By the end of the lesson, students will have a better understanding of families, voting and the inauguration. Upon enrolling in this class, students will receive a pre-lesson activity; students should complete the worksheet prior to the class in order for students to bring the items/pictures to class for show and tell.

I am passionate about teaching appreciation of our world's cultures, societies, and people in a fun and engaging way that will spark a lifelong curiosity about our global community and a desire to be active and productive community members. I would like to work with learners from 6 to 18 years old. I have a degree in Sociology from UCLA, visited more than 30 countries, and lived/taught in five countries. I love to explore our global community from teas to art to traditional clothing.
Since 2005, I have taught English as a foreign language. I have taught in Asia, Central America, South America and North America. I have taught all age levels from young learners to middle school students to college students. For the past five years, I have been teaching English online to very young learners in China.
I believe learning should be fun, interactive and relevant to students' lives. Students should be inspired and encouraged to be active learners and full participants in developing their knowledge of the world.
On a personal note, I have two big dreams that I'm pursuing now. The first is to live in London for a year as a writer. Because of the Covid pandemic, I am not sure when this will happen. The second is to publish The Next Great American Novel. (I have a Master's degree in Nonfiction Writing from USC.)
