Experiencia de clase

In this class, we will explore how frogs and toads breed and grow. Each development stage will be discussed, along with timelines and unique aspects of the frog/toad life cycle. A variety of frog and toad species will be featured to represent the commonalities in development as well as the extremes.
Students will learn the anatomy of tadpoles, and how to distinguish between tadpole species.
This class will also serve as an opportunity to learn about the ecological challenges frogs and toads face, and how different issues in the environment can affect their life cycles.
Images, video, and audio recordings will be shared. Students can participate in conversations at their own comfort level. This is a great class for anyone interested in amphibians, wildlife biology, ecology, conservation, forestry, or general nature!

More about me:
Exploring our natural environment has always been a big part of my life; I grew up camping, hiking, observing critters, and reading field guides for fun. Yet most of my formal education has centered around writing. After graduating college in 2002, I began teaching at a non-profit juvenile justice program for at-risk girls. My state certification was for English, grades 6-12. In addition to Language Arts, I taught personal/career development and journalism. Besides my "day job" as a teacher, I worked as a freelance editor, wrote articles for local publications, and tutored elementary-level students. I moved into a management role at my full-time job, where I led the program's communication efforts like grant writing, volunteer management, website content creation, public/media relations, and more. After a 7-year career at the non-profit program, I decided to work as an independent contractor for businesses. I provide a variety of services related to communication such as website content creation, editing, writing, and public relations. I've had the privilege of helping both small businesses and multi-billion dollar corporations improve their communication efforts.

In 2016, I received my Florida Master Naturalist Certification and then started an outdoors group for our homeschooling community. It allows me to combine my favorite passions: being a mom, learning, teaching, nature, and effective communication. I also volunteer as an Assistant Instructor for the Florida Master Naturalist Program.

I was excited to discover Outschool because it epitomizes another passion of mine: streamlined technology that enhances lives. I look forward to meeting you here and learning/teaching together!
