Semana de escritura creativa: campamento de verano

En este campamento de verano de una semana de duración, los estudiantes crearán su propio cuento utilizando técnicas de los profesionales. Al final de la semana, tendrán un cuento completo para compartir con amigos y familiares.

While summer is great for those fun in the sun activities, keeping learners engaged in their studies is important as well. That is why I strive to make learning fun and enjoyable. Join me in this one week summer camp where students will meet once a day to work on writing their own short story. Your learners will learn tips and tricks gathered from published authors to assist them in creating a story that they feel confident sharing with others. 

In each class, students will learn about the five elements it takes to create a short story masterpiece: Plot, Character, Setting, Point of View, and Tone/Mood.  During class we will learn what each of the five story elements are and tips on how to use them properly in their own stories. Classes will also include summer themed writing games and/or activities, discussion, and time to write. In my classroom, students are free to share their work at the level they are comfortable with. I do not require them to share their writing aloud but I do encourage them to share if they would like to. This allows myself and their peers to offer valuable feedback regarding their writing. 

Reading and writing are my passions. I have been an avid reader all my life. This led to a love of writing as well. I completed many college writing courses and have also written short stories for an online blog. I enjoy sharing all that I have learned with my students on Outschool. My goal for this class is to help budding writers learn what it takes to improve their skill while also sparking ideas and creativity as they learn. Let's craft a story together this summer! 

Day 1: Plot- Students will brainstorm storyline ideas 
Day 2: Character- Students will create a character to star in their story
Day 3: Setting- Students will choose and build the setting of their story
Day 4: Point of View and Tone- Students will learn about the point of view and tone of a story
Day 5: Students will use what they learned earlier in the week to put their short story together and share with the class if they are comfortable

Hello, my name is Ms. Tasha. I have many years of experience working with children in various classroom settings. With four years of experience working in a virtual classroom, I am confident that your learner will feel comfortable and excited to come to class. I also have a bachelor's degree in behavioral science, with a concentration in Psychology. I have completed many English and Writing  courses throughout my college adventure as well. I am excited to share my love of reading and writing with your students. 

I will be offering mostly reading and writing based classed geared toward all levels. My classes are designed to enhance reading skills. Learners will increase reading fluency and improve comprehension. As for writing courses, learners can gain valuable skills to develop their writing ability in many different genres. While I mostly focus on reading and writing skills, I also offer classes involving animals, Disney movies, dress up, and much more. 

I believe that children retain most information if they can connect to the material they are learning about. I strive to create a upbeat, fun classroom where all students feel excepted and free to express themselves. Learning can be fun when taught in creative and exciting ways. All of my offered classes are designed to keep your learners engaged with activities. Learners also participate in discussions and gain instruction in a positive learning environment.
