Dioramas are exciting to make, and fun to play with! In this course learners each choose their own theme, and make a miniature 3-D scene with teacher guidance. Steps and techniques are demonstrated; then clearly explained as each learner constructs their own project. Learners discuss their ideas and ask questions as they go along, and the teacher checks in often, to provide assistance where needed. Prior experience in drawing and using scissors, glue, tape and paint is helpful, but not required. 1, Planning - Learners each share their chosen topic, draw their ideas for the project, and begin to create a base or frame. 2, Backdrop and Landforms - Learners each paint a paper backdrop and create 2-D stand-up features such as hills. 3, Plants, Animals and People - Learners draw, colour, cut out and begin to place 2-D characters and details into their scenes. 4, Assembly, Finishing Touches and Sharing - Learners make repairs, tidy their creations, and complete them with found objects. 5, Sharing - Each learner shows off their diorama, answers questions from their classmates, and makes positive comments about others' projects.

Learners will practice fine motor skills in handling scissors, glue, tape and paint. They will problem solve, and will consider foreground, middle ground and background as they use their imaginations and resourcefulness to create their 3-D scenes.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
2 Grado
Maestría en Educación desde Antioch University New England, NH
Licenciatura en Educación elemental desde University of Alberta, Canada
In my thirty years of experience in elementary classrooms I particularly enjoyed teaching art and music. Projects for academic topics often included a drawing, painting, clay model, or 3D construction. I am delighted to engage with young learners on Outschool, and guide them through the process of making a 3D diorama on a topic of their choice!
