I have a specialized interest in the topics covered, and I currently offer longer courses in some of the topics, such as the Salem Witch Trials and the Roanoke Colony, that the students may want to take after learning about a topic that interests them. I have done a lot of research about the topics that I teach, and I have covered them in other classes. During each weekly meeting, students will learn about a different topic from history. I will present the information and we will discuss the historical context of each event, and its bearing on history and on society. Students are welcome to bring any information that they have on the topic that will be covered that day, but it is not required.  Students are welcome to join any week that has a topic of interest to them. Students will also participate in the generation of future topic ideas. I use my own material for teaching these topics, as well as articles and short video clips. My teaching style is multimodal, and includes lecture, discussion, visual, auditory, and written material.
