" Me de taberu," " eat with your eyes," is an important concept in Japanese cuisine.  Learn how to mold delicious and healthy rice pilaf into a kawaii (cute) sleeping teddy bear. Create a pillow and  cover your teddy with a blankie made from a yellow egg crepe.  Cooked Japanese rice and vegetables are mixed into a tasty mound. Cut nori (roasted seaweed) into features and decorate your plate with fresh fruit and veggies for a complete healthy, tasty and nutritious meal  to delight diners of all ages.

Our instructor will demonstrate how to make a dish during the class and students can try doing the recipe along with the instructor, with appropriate supervision if necessary. We will provide recipes and ingredient options. If cooking with a stove is required, students with adult supervision can complete the cooking either during the class or after the class has ended. Please note that the class duration may extend depending on how the cooking progresses.

1 tablespoon water
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
Pinch of salt
1 tablespoon canola oil

2 cups cooked Japanese short grain rice* (Approximately 1 cup uncooked short grain rice. Please cook rice before class. See recipe for how to prepare rice available upon enrollment) 
2 tablespoons ketchup
1/4 cup mixed cooked vegetables such as peas, carrots, and corn. The vegetables can be fresh, canned or frozen ( they will be mixed into a portion of the rice)
1/4 sheet nori (roasted seaweed)
Cucumber slices for decoration

Equipment
Mixing bowls and spoons, whisk or fork to beat eggs,  measuring cups and spoons,  small 6-8 inch frying pan, scissors, plastic wrap
