In this class, we will be learning to read long-vowel words that end with the letter “e”, such as “mane, like, hope, and huge”. Students will learn that when the letter “e” is added to the end of a word, the vowel sound changes. 

I have created many colorful slides, as well as some fun worksheets that we will do together as a class. There are four lessons in this class. Each one will cover a different vowel sound.

Lesson one: long “a” words
Lesson two long “i” words
Lesson three: long “o” words
Lesson four: long “u” and long “e” words

In each lesson, we will practice sounding out, sorting, reading, and spelling the long vowel words along with some other activities. 

Before taking this class, students should…

1.	Know the sounds of each letter in the alphabet
2.	Be able to read most short vowel words such as “hat, bag, red”.

This class is appropriate for ELA students and for ESL students.
