Students will learn by engaging in various blending exercises, learning to isolate initial, medial, and final sounds, memorizing high frequency words, and identifying rhyming words. Students will interact with Gerald, Piggie, each other, and their teacher. The goal is to have the students doing the majority of the talking. I will teach using PowerPoint slides, youtube videos, and magnetic letters. In session 1, students will learn to isolate initial sounds, blend CVC words, read sentences with these CVC words, and learn the digraph "sh." In session 2, students will learn to isolate final sounds, learn the l-blends (sl, fl, cl, bl, pl, gl), read sentences, and learn the digraph "th." In session 3, students will learn to isolate medial sounds, learn r-blends (br, cr, dr, fr, gr), read sentences, and learn the digraph "ch." In session 4, students will learn the digraphs "ph" and "wh," and take turns reading sentences.

Hello there! My name is Andrea and in the classroom I go by Ms. Annie. I teach classes for young learners in Phonics, Reading, Math, and Spanish. In the future, I may teach guitar and piano classes as well. I have a M.Ed in Early Childhood Education from Grand Canyon University. I have a B.A. in Spanish and a B.S. in Health from Texas A&M University. I have taught Kindergarten for the past two years and I taught Pre-Kindergarten for the previous three years. I was a Spanish tutor in college and play guitar and piano for enjoyment.
I lived in Salamanca, Spain for three months studying Spanish. I have also walked 500 miles across Spain two different times. I enjoy reading, hiking, music, traveling, and TEACHING! In my classroom, learning is fun. It is my experience that children learn best when they have a positive emotional connection to the content. I can't wait to see you in the classroom!
