Matemáticas para jardín de infantes: curso intensivo (FLEX)

Week #1- students will be exposed to number recognition and counting skills. By the end of kindergarten, students are expected to be able to count to 100. We will use a variety of fun games, crafts, and other resources to facilitate these skills. Students will be encouraged to count through the use of manipulative and teacher-guided video lesson. We will play a scavenger hunt game from home where students will be asked to find certain objects in certain quantities. 

Week #2- students will learn to determine when a number is bigger or smaller which is a key skill for kindergarten assessments. We will look at how to tell if a number is smaller or larger using manipulatives and visual aids. Students will interact using items they have at home. We will play collaborative games to help practice these skills. We will play "I have....who has..." as a class to practice who has the bigger number. This activity will be used for progress monitoring. Students will also complete a worksheet. 

Week #3- students will look at basic addition. Students will work on different ways to make numbers up to ten. We will use number compound circles to accomplish this along with manipulative to help students visualize the addition process.  Activities, games, crafts, and an interactive google slides presentation will be used for practice. Students will complete an additions worksheet for progress monitoring.

Week #4- students will look at making patterns with pattern blocks, counting cubes, and other eye-catching manipulative. We will use creative artwork to make patterns and practice using a collaborative google slides presentation. Students will look for patterns in their home in a scavenger hunt type activity. Students will complete a patterns worksheet. 


- Throughout this class, students will engage with their peers through the use of Kahoots! and class wide games like Jeopardy! and BINGO. Nearpod will also be utilized to demonstrate what students have learned, engage in virtual field trips, and allow for classmate interaction. 

- Students will also post their completed crafts and assignments for their classmates to comment on. Students will follow along with various crafts such as coloring pages, multimedia crafts, informative diagrams, cut and paste crafts, and so much more! We will engage in activities such as interactive google presentations, mini info books, and super exciting experiments! 

- Also shared in the classroom will be exciting videos for students to watch and learn from, guided questions will be attached to each video. 

- Anchor charts will be used as visuals.

Students will be asked to follow links to watch YouTube videos. They may need an adult account to watch videos that may be blocked under the child accounts. Students may follow links to watch presentations on Canva, this will not require a login. Students will need to create a guest account and nickname for Kahoot! and Nearpod. They will also need a class code. Students will follow a shared link to a google slides presentation. No login is required.
