This class is perfect for children entering the 4th grade, advanced 3rd graders or students that want to see if they are ready for 4th grade math. Your learner will learn math skills that they typically will learn the first semester of 4th grade and that is why it is called jump start 4th grade math so your child can have a jump start on these important skills. I am a very patient teacher and often give your children think time before assisting so they can learn problem solving skills and become independent thinkers. What is included with this class: 👩🏫1. A certified teacher with over 20 years of experience in public, private, and online schools. 🙋♀️2. Help if your child does not understand the concept, please send me a message and I will answer any questions your child may have. 😉3. I utilize the chat feature in Zoom to answer questions and no one sees the answers except the teacher. I know some children are afraid to speak out and that is why we use the chat feature. 📰4. A monthly newsletter sent out the first class of every month or if you join after the first class, it will be sent when you book. The newsletter will include what we are learning in class, tips and tricks to help your student succeed in math, and days that we will not be meeting. 📄5. A work packet for us to complete during class and also extra work in between classes that is optional for students that need extra practice. Below is a breakdown of what your child will learn each week: The week of 6/10- We will learn how to interpret a multiplication equation as a comparison, e.g., interpret 35 = 5 × 7 as a statement that 35 is 5 times as many as 7 and 7 times as many as 5. Represent verbal statements of multiplicative comparisons as multiplication equations. The week of 6/17-We will learn how to multiply or divide to solve word problems involving multiplicative comparison, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem, distinguishing multiplicative comparison from additive comparison. The week of 6/24-We will learn to recognize that in a multi-digit whole number, a digit in one place represents ten times what it represents in the place to its right. For example, recognize that 700 ÷ 70 = 10 by applying concepts of place value and division. The week of 7/8-We will learn to read and write multi-digit whole numbers using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form. Compare two multi-digit numbers based on meanings of the digits in each place, using >, =, and < symbols to record the results of comparisons. The week of 7/22-We will learn why a fraction a/b is equivalent to a fraction (n × a)/(n × b) by using visual fraction models, with attention to how the number and size of the parts differ even though the two fractions themselves are the same size. Use this principle to recognize and generate equivalent fractions. The week of 7/29-This week we will be reviewing past skills and learning some new measurement and weight vocabulary words. The week of 8/5-We will learn to draw points, lines, line segments, rays, angles (right, acute, obtuse), and perpendicular and parallel lines. Identify these in two-dimensional figures. The week of 8/12-We will learn to how to fluently add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm

Hello Everyone!! I love to teach fun and engaging classes for children ages 3-8. I enjoy being silly and singing silly songs with the class. My puppets and my own pets often visit the class. I have been teaching Prekindergarten for the past 8 years and before that, I taught kindergarten for 9 years. I love the energy that the young learners bring to class.
When I am not teaching, you will find me hanging out with my family around a camp fire or traveling around the United States. I am also a Girl Scout leader in my community and love taking my Girl Scout troop on many adventures including camping trips, field trips and hiking trips. We like to earn a lot of STEM and nature badges. I love the outdoors and try to get out as much as possible. When I taught in the local public school classroom, I would often take my class outdoors to teach if it was a nice day. So come join me in class and see what adventures we will take! I have been getting requests for classes during the after school hours, so I am starting to add more classes during the after school hours. I look forward to seeing you in class!!
