1 hora por semana. Students would be wise to research their player character (PC), the monsters, aspects of Halloween, and other topics relevant to the various modules during the class.Evaluación
Students, through team work and mission accomplishment, will gain a sense of achievement as they "level up". The degree of team work they feel they participated in during a session should be an indication of their progress.Experiencia de clase

Adventurers will begin this on-going D&D Halloween themed class with a low-level (but still scary) - Foggybottom Mysteries. The class will then progress to more challenging (and more spooky) adventures. Classic Halloween scenarios will be the theme throughout, but I will be borrowing from Grimm's Fairy Tales, World Mythology, and other literary/historical sources for inspiration (with redaction). This class is intended for inexperienced D&D players who love Halloween, haunted houses, ghosts and things that go 'bump' in the night! This is a great class to learn about the history of Halloween and history in general, since many scenarios will take place in different time periods: ancient, medieval, victorian and modern. By using folklore and mythology the students will gain a very good understanding of what people have feared throughout the ages and across the World (and have fun while learning). While this is an on-going adventure, new team members are always welcome! Please sign up a few days ahead of time so that we can schedule an individual "Session Zero" to get your orientation with the present module and your character set up before game time - I will not be able to roll up your character on Roll20 during the class because it is not fair to the other students. Thank you. Since we do not like to rush our D&D experience, most of the modules listed below will take 2-3 classes (or more) to complete. Thus, I have provided a rough date range of when we will be immersed in the encounters. I have not provided too much detail to prevent "meta-gaming" - surprises are for the Dungeon Master (DM). EACH adventure is a multi-faceted module with plenty of mysterious challenges. NEW SESSION! OCTOBER 2022 Session Zero - player character creation, D&D rules, expectations, and general discussion. October -November - Foggybottom Mysteries December - Into the Catacombs January - Waltzing with Will-o-Wisps February: A Knight at Castle Dread March-Whose coffin is it anyway? April-Creepy Crawly Critters May -The Bad Cemetery Caretaker June - Barking at the Moon July- A Night of Fright August- The Ghost Ship September - The Spooky Carnival October - Off to Ravenloft! If you are "dropping in" then please contact me before you sign up so that I can tell you our present status in order for your learner to start at the beginning of a new module. SPOOKY "HOUSE RULES" ALL players will begin at Level 1 - ALL players will maintain their character sheet on Roll20 (and paper at home). Arrive at "Session Zero" with a good idea what official D&D 5e Race/Class you want to play. We can multi-class at Level 6. You may have a (one) familiar/companion at Level 3. You may NOT have an Arcane Focus until Level 3 (you must gather spell components, etc.) You may only attune to THREE magical items. You may have retainers/followers (depending upon class) at Level 12. You may be of any Good alignment. You MUST work with your fellow adventurers in a cooperative manner. ROLE PLAYING is a VERY IMPORTANT part of this class, please feel free to explore this vital part of the Three Pillars of Adventure. And.......have loads of fun playing your character! Levels are attained through the accumulation of experience point by way of creative thinking, team work, and astute problem solving (as well as combat with monsters). Please review the attachments prior to "Session Zero" - thank you. A class such as this cannot run without at least THREE students - if there are not enough students in the class at the beginning date then we will wait until we have at least THREE to begin - thank you for understanding.

Orientación para padres
D&D is a fantasy role playing game whereby the participants follow the Three Pillars of Adventure (exploration, social interaction, and combat), thus there will be fantasy fighting against monsters. This is a Halloween themed class, therefore various modules are "spooky" and "scary" but not overtly in the Horror genre - there will be (later on) vampires, witches, and other traditional Halloween/mythological characters.
Lista de útiles escolares
Students MUST have a Roll20 account (free) to participate in this class. Students will have access to the 'compendium' of all the D&D books through my account (Monster Manual, Player's Handbook, Tasha's Cauldron, and many more).

Over the past 30 years I have taught I.G.C.S.E, A-Level, I.B., and A.P. History throughout the Atlantic region in both private and public school settings. During that time I have instructed students in a variety of rigorous exam subjects . I am a strong advocate of "immersion education" (historic setting RPG) in the Social Studies classroom. My passion is Military History, which I have been enthusiastically studying my entire life. My present RPG classes involve a number of embedded lessons learned (empathy, teamwork, problem solving, decision-making, etc.) through the Three Pillars of Adventure: Exploration, Role-playing, and Fantasy Combat. My Battles & Generals classes are akin to an "On-Going, interactive discussion-based documentary" as one student put it not too long ago....and that seems about right.
